Heart of Texas regional unemployment rate continues to edge downward.
Waco, Texas ⎯ The Heart of Texas six-county regional unemployment rate edged down to 3.3% for April ’22, a decrease of .2% from March ’22. Job growth for our region continues to trend upward, with an additional 500 jobs added in the month of April, and 6,700 jobs added in the past year. Unemployment claims for the region saw a 13% decrease from March ’22, with 690 claims reported in April, TWC’s TexasLMI.com reports.
The 3.3% regional unemployment rate for April consisted of 5,665 unemployed residents in the Heart of Texas area. This rate is below the state’s (3.7%) and in line with the national unemployment rate (3.3%).
All six counties in the Heart of Texas region saw decreases in unemployment rates. McLennan County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in April at 3.1%, followed by Bosque County (3.2%), Hill County (3.3%), Falls (3.6%), and Limestone County (4.1%). Freestone County remained the highest at 5.3%.
