Heart of Texas unemployment rate declines in December
Waco, TX ⎯The Heart of Texas six-county regional unemployment rate edged down to 3.4% for December 2022, a decrease of .1% from November 2022. Job growth for the Waco metropolitan area increased by 200 jobs in December. A total of 3,900 jobs were added in 2021. TWC’s TexasLMI.com reported 853 unemployment claims in December.
McLennan and Bosque counties recorded the lowest unemployment rate (3.2%), followed by Falls (3.7%), Hill (4.3%) and Limestone (4.1%). Freestone’s rate remained the highest at 5%.
The 3.4% regional unemployment rate for December consisted of 5,903 unemployed residents in the Heart of Texas area. This rate is below the state’s (3.6%) and above the national unemployment rate (3.3%).
