Heart of Texas unemployment rate continues to trend upward
WACO, Texas—The unemployment rate for the six-county Heart of Texas region rose to 4.6% in February, with 1,176 continued unemployment claims reported. The region saw 1,100 new jobs added, TexasLMI.com reported. The 4.6% unemployment rate was comprised of 8,347 unemployed residents.
Bosque county recorded the lowest unemployment rate (4.3%), followed by McLennan (4.5%), Falls (4.9%), Hill (5%) and Limestone (5.3%). Freestone’s rate remained the highest at 6.2%. The Heart of Texas unemployment rate is above both the state of Texas (4.5%) and national unemployment (3.9%).
