Unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas continues to decline
The Heart of Texas six-county regional unemployment rate edged down to 3.2% for April, a decrease of .6% from March. Job growth for the Waco Metropolitan area saw an additional 600 jobs added in the month of April, and 978 unemployment claims were reported for the month. The 3.2% regional unemployment rate for April consisted of 5,924 unemployed residents in the Heart of Texas area.
