Heart of Texas Unemployment Rate Edges Down to 4.2%

Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas region dipped to 4.2% in July, a modest decrease of 0.2% from the previous month. The Waco Metropolitan Area experienced a loss of 800 jobs during June, as reported by TexasLMI.com. This 4.2% regional unemployment rate equates to 7,690 unemployed residents and 1,207 continued unemployment claims.

Freestone County reported the highest unemployment rate at 5.4%, followed by Limestone (4.5%), Falls and Hill (4.2%), and McLennan (4.1%). Bosque County reported the lowest unemployment rate at 3.6%.
