Heart of Texas Unemployment Edges Up to 3.9% in October
Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate for the Heart of Texas region increased to 3.9% in October, with 7,279 residents seeking employment. The Waco Metropolitan Area experienced an increase of 900 jobs last month, led by growth in the Service-Providing sector, bringing the total number of jobs in the region to 139,700, according to the latest data from TexasLMI.com.
Freestone County has the highest unemployment rate at 5.1%, followed by Limestone (4.6%), Falls (4.3%), Hill (4.0%), Bosque and McLennan (3.8%). The Heart of Texas region outperformed the statewide unemployment rate of 4.1% and matched the national average of 3.9%.
