Regional unemployment rate decreases to 3.5%
Waco, Texas ⎯ The Heart of Texas unadjusted unemployment rate for September 2022 was 3.5 percent, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from August 2022. This rate is comprised of 6,057 unemployed residents in the region. Three hundred jobs were added in September for the region, and continued unemployment claims saw a decrease (605), Texas Workforce Commission’s TexasLMI.com reports.
At 3.4%, McLennan and Bosque County recorded the lowest rate, followed by Hill (3.7%), Falls (3.8%), and Limestone (4.4%). Freestone County recorded the highest rate at 5.4%. The 3.5% unemployment rate for the region was below Texas’ (3.8%) and above the national rate (3.3%).
