Heart of Texas Unemployment Rate Edges Down to 3.8% in September
Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas region experienced a modest decline, dropping from 4.1% in August to 3.8% in September. This number represents 7,046 unemployed residents across the region. During the same period, the Waco Metropolitan Area saw a positive gain of 600 jobs, according to data from TexasLMI.com.
Freestone County has the highest unemployment rate at 4.9%, followed by Limestone (4.3%), Falls (4.0%), Hill (3.9%), Bosque (3.8%), and McLennan (3.7%). At 4.1%, the region’s unemployment rate in September remained below both the Texas state average of 4.1% and the national rate of 3.9%.
